FAQs regarding:
General…
-
Our current main office is located in beautiful Camas, Washington.
-
While we mostly service the Clark and Multnomah County cities. We have travelled as far south as Eugene, as far West as Seaside, as far East as Stevenson and as far North as Kelso. If you move out of the Clark or Multnomah counties but refuse to find a different company. Give us a call. We might just do the travel time!
Estimates…
-
Not necessarily! We only need to be able to walk around the property to be able to give an estimate on window cleaning, gutter cleaning and pressure washing. If there are any locked gates, unlocking them before we head over would be enough to allow us access around the house or building.
-
Very rarely. Most homes have enough room walking around to allow us to give an accurate estimate. If your home borders a cliff and walking around the back of the home is impossible then there is a chance we might ask for access into the home to be able to see the back of the house from within.
-
Our scheduling is largely dependant on time of year and the time it would take to complete the work. Usually our work days consist of three to four “jobs” a day per team of three. This means depending on the time it would take to complete the service requested, we could squeeze you into an afternoon on a day as soon as tomorrow. Or schedule you for first thing in the morning a month from now. If you’d like the work to be done fairly soon, then make sure to have an estimate done at least two weeks before for the best chances of getting on the schedule within those two weeks.

Yes! Keep an eye on our social media for posts about seasonal discounts, usually gutter cleaning discounts during the fall and early spring. Our website will also have a banner announcing any ongoing discounts at the top of the page. We currently don’t offer any senior discounts or military discounts.
Another way to get a discount even if we aren’t directly offering one, would be to invite a neighbor or two to all get the same services done on the same day. The convenience for us will reflect on a discount for all homeowners involved!

Yes to all three! We are professionals!
Window Cleaning…
-
We count windows per glass pane, depending on size, complexity, access and tools needed. A good rule of thumb to give yourself a very rough estimate on pricing is, a common size window is of 28 inches wide by 44 inches tall, assuming it’s a single glass pane, it’s $5 to wash it inside and out. This price of course may fluctuate up or down depending on the factors listed above.
-
All windows are washed in a few steps.
First we wet the glass using a soft mop soaked with two types of soap in cold water.
We then use a 0000 grade steel wool to scrub the entire glass surface, unless it has some kind of plastic tinting over it
Then we use a squeegee to remove soapy water from the glass
Finally we use rewashable cotton rags to dry the edges around the glass to prevent streaking.
All windows are inspected for damage both before and after washing them and any issues are reported. A scraper blade may be used to remove paint overspray, stubborn stains and other materials such as sticker residue. However the glass type is first identified to prevent accidental scratching.
-
Yes! Every window cleaning estimate for window cleaning inside and outside, already includes washing the track the window sits on, scrubbing and washing the screens. Getting an estimate for window cleaning outside only? While tracks are not included, screen washing still is!
-
No, we don’t repair window screens ourselves, but at the moment we do have a screen repair company we trust and would be happy to refer you to that company. The owner has worked for Blue Phoenix himself for over a year.
-
No! While some of our competitors use water-fed systems to clean windows at residential homes due to it being faster, easier and relatively reliable. We believe water-fed systems are only appropriate to use for commercial buildings. Our reasoning stems from the knowledge that no water-fed system guarantees a spotless and streakless cleaning as much as washing a window by hand. Manually washing windows at residential homes also guarantees no water will leak into a home.
-
Yes! We do offer hard water spot removal upon request. We use an industrial grade hard water spot removing paste with a buffer/polisher in order to get results as quick and effective as possible.
-
Yes! We do offer a water repellant application service upon request. We most often use products by Rain-X but we are open to suggestions if you prefer a different type or brand.

We appreciate any help you can give us. If we will be washing windows inside the house:
moving any light furniture away from windows
removing decorations from window glass and off of window sills
ensuring everyone inside the home is awake and expecting us
opening doors to rooms that have windows you’d like washed and closing doors to rooms with no windows inside or that you would like us to skip
If we will be washing windows outside too or only:
moving any patio or porch furniture away from windows
removing decorations or thermometers from window glass
unlocking gates for access around the property
ensuring water spigots are turned on and working
Gutter Cleaning…
-
We strive to give you and your home a comprehensive gutter cleaning experience. To ensure you face no issues with your gutters after our visit. Although it is it’s own service, we recommend you include a “roof blowout” service when asking for gutter cleaning service. This entails walking your roof with a leaf blower and blowing all the loose debris off of your roof to ensure none of it ends up in your gutters after the first rainfall after we leave. Our process begins with this, unless specifically asked not to add the roof blowout service. Regardless:
We start by gathering all the debris inside the gutters into piles
We then manually scoop up all the piles into buckets that are then dumped into your yard debris bin or placed in plastic garbage bags and placed in your garbage bin if you don’t have a yard debris bin.
Then we use a garden hose to spray down the gutters to remove any remaining small debris
We also spray water directly down the water spouts to make sure they aren’t clogged. If any are clogged we do our best to unclog them before moving on.
Finally we spray the outside “face” of the gutters to make sure there isn’t dirty water dripping down that could stain the gutter.
-
No, we dump any debris into your own yard debris bin. If you don’t have one or it is full already, we will dump the debris into garbage bags and we will either place them inside your garbage bin or somewhere you decide if that too is full. If you absolutely can’t keep the debris, we may be able to take it for an extra charge, depending on amount.
-
Sometimes, a little bit of water pressure is able to push any obstruction down and unclog it, so we will attempt to do so first. However if it doesn’t budge, we don’t have the tools to unclog anything beneath the ground, so you will need to most likely call a plumber.
-
If the repair is as simple as patching a rusted hole, or a leak due to a hole in the metal. We will inspect it, report it to you and if we deem it possible. We will offer to patch it either that same day or the next chance we get. We can’t however disassemble a gutter to nail it back in place if it’s sagging or if the wood behind it is rotten. Those repairs are definitely for dedicated gutter repair service providers.
-
We typically recommend gutter cleaning to be done at least twice a year. Once before the rainy season begins, mid September to early November in preparation for the more consistent rain showers. Then again just after the rainy season, mid April to early June. This ensures no debris is left over the summer clogging up the gutters with sitting water that could cause gutters to sag over time and mold to grow.
Pressure Washing…
-
Most likely, no. We only provide estimates for pressure washing in person. This is because we first inspect the surfaces you’d like pressure washed to make sure it is the right service. We use a variety of different nozzles to make sure we don’t damage any surface and all our machines have customization of PSI. Everyone in our teams is trained to make adjustments depending on the job. All this to say, most driveways, walkways and sidewalks are made to last, and pressure washing them helps extend their lifespans if done correctly.
Moss Killer Application…
-
Depending on the season and how badly the moss on the roof has gotten, we recommend one of two types we offer.
Sunny weather, light moss growth — soft washing
We recommend soft washing a roof during the sunny season, since powdered moss killer requires rain to work properly. Soft washing will effectively kill off any moss and keep new moss from growing too.
Sunny weather, heavy moss growth — soft washing
Also soft washing, for the same reason, powdered moss killer requires rain to work properly. Also while soft washing we can really soak the heavier moss growth to make sure it kills it off faster.
Rainy weather, light moss growth — powdered moss killer (zinc sulfate)
During the rainy season, is when powdered moss killer really shines. The powder is placed evenly along the roof ridges and hips to let the rain disperse it along the entire roof.
Rainy weather, heavy moss growth — soft washing followed by powdered moss killer (zinc sulfate)
When a roof has heavy moss growth but moss removal isn’t an option. Soft washing the roof to kill off all live moss quickly is a good choice. However, applying a water based moss killer while it’s rainy, may lead to some of that moss killer being carried down into your gutters before it could really soak into the moss itself. We counteract this by mixing in a specialized surfactant to help the moss killer “stick” to the moss while applying it. However as insurance, we often recommend following the soft wash with powdered moss killer application. To really get the job done.
-
We live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, where is rains. A lot. Moss thrives in this moist environment. As such we recommend some kind of moss killer application at least once a year, preferably just as the rainy season is beginning, especially if using a powdered moss killer. If your house gets a lot of shade, maybe twice a year would be better for your home. Once every six months should be more than enough.
-
Yes, kind of.
While it does work the same, we prefer applying powdered zinc sulfate on roofs since the powder sticks to the roof a lot better, especially if it’s wet. The large majority of the granules bounce all the way down into the gutters when being applied. Those granulated moss killers are better used on mossy sidewalks and walkways where the surface is flat.
